Got a crooked tooth? Please do not Ignore it

We are happy to crunch on candy, ice cubes, or popcorn kernels, but at times, we do it anyway. Then we also have moments when we chew the cap of a pen or pencil just to seem that we are on the edge of a project and we are trying to think through the best ideas.

On top of it, you are also tempted to chalk up chewing on stuff that you shouldn’t chew and you are inculcating a bad habit. You invite cracked teeth, pain, and possibly an infection.

Let’s unpack the discussion by understanding the different parts of the teeth. You are probably familiar with the exterior known as tooth enamel. Under that pearly, the exterior is a hard layer called dentin. The dentin and enamel pair up to protect our teeth the inner soft tissue called the pulp, where the nerves and blood vessels are located.

When a tooth cracks, the protective layer has been breached, and the structure of the tooth has been compromised. Some cracks are minor and do not require any treatment, but some others become a convenient entryway for bacteria, which can further result in tooth decay, gum disease, or worse yet.

With a crooked tooth, your orthodontist may tell you to get braces in Wasilla or Invisalign in Wasilla, but you should make sure that your underlying habits do not aggravate the situation further.
